BOARD BRIEFS: August Meeting

The Ouachita Parish School Board considered and approved three capital improvement projects during Tuesday’s regular board meeting.

TBA Studio was selected as the architect for the Sports Area Complex at West Ouachita High and the Architecture Alliance Group as the architect for roof replacements at West Monroe High, West Ouachita High, George Welch Elementary and Kiroli Elementary. Maintenance and Operations will fund the roof replacements. The Sports Area Complex project at West Ouachita High will go out for bid.

The Board approved the purchase of a new sound system for Mackie Freeze Stadium at Richwood High ($60,000). The sound system will be purchased with funds from Maintenance and Operations.

Policy Updates

The School Board considered the following policy changes: DFL (land sales), IFA (parental review of instructional materials), IFBGA (internet and cell phone safety), JBD (absences), JCDAF (bullying and hazing), JDE (expulsion), JGCE (mandatory reporting) and JGCF (mental health).

These policies will be voted on at a later date.
