West Ouachita High Student Recognized for Excellence

Garrett Massey began his Ouachita Parish career as a PreK student at Calhoun Elementary.  Today, he is a recently graduated senior and one of the Valedictorians who represented the West Ouachita High Class of 2021. Garrett is an active member of Boy Scout Troop 66 in West Monroe, where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout this past September. For his Eagle Scout project, he built a Ga-Ga ball pit on Central Elementary School’s playground which students are thoroughly enjoying.

Garrett has been selected to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. There were over 16,000 applicants for the Naval Academy’s class of 2025, and Garrett was one of approximately 1200 applicants selected. Garrett will report to the United States Naval Academy in late June. He will pursue a degree in aeronautical engineering and hopes to become a pilot in the United States Navy upon graduation. Congratulations, Garrett!
