Bates Earns Semi-Finalist Spot

Sandy Bates, Principal of the YearCongratulations to Boley Elementary Principal Sandy Bates
who was named a 2021 Louisiana Principal of the Year Semi-Finalist.

Sandy began teaching with the system in 1987 as an 8th grade teacher at Calhoun Middle, and became Principal of Boley Elementary in 2016.  Throughout her 32 years with the system, Sandy has always kept the best interests of our students as priority.  Her faculty and staff describe Sandy as a caring leader who seeks to make sure everyone is safe and engaged in best practices for student success.  Through her proven leadership and strength, Sandy led her staff and faculty through the catastrophe of the Boley fire in 2019. Her heart was with her students and making sure they had safe, welcome classrooms to return to in the wake of that disaster. She and her faculty are to be commended for their resilience during that time.

We are honored to have Sandy represent Ouachita Parish Schools in the Louisiana Principal of the Year Awards Program.
