Baton Rouge, La. - On April 8, 2008, Nitsha Johnson, a junior at Richwood High School in Richwood, Louisiana, received an Award of Excellence and a $100 cash prize from the Louisiana State Medical Society {LSMS) for her science project in the 2008 Louisiana Science and Engineering hair held April 7 at the LSU Carl Maddox Field House.
Johnson was among five participants receiving this honor in the Senior Division of the Medicine and Health Category, which is judged each year by volunteer physician-members of the LSMS. Her project, "Vitamin C...ln Peppers?? determined how much vitamin C was in red, green, and yellow bell peppers. Her experiment found green bell peppers provided the most vitamin C.
The Louisiana Science & Engineering Fair (LSEF), an affiliate of Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), is an annual event organized to encourage Louisiana youth to learn about science and to consider a career in science or engineering.
