Easter Through the Eyes of a Different Culture
Posted on Wednesday, April 09 @ 19:23:12 CDT by aline

OPSB News During the recent holiday, Swartz Upper Elementary sixth graders experienced a different Easter tradition, one brought to light by Mrs. Taraba (6th gr. Social Studies teacher). Using her Ukrainian cultural heritage, Mrs. Taraba shared with her students her private collection of Pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs). Then, she proceeded to explain and demonstrate the intricate batik-like decorating process with the kistka, beeswax, and dyes.

Thank you, Mrs. Taraba, for giving us a glimpse to such an interesting culture!
