Swartz Students Go Back In Time

Students in Mrs. Boudloche’s third grade Reading class at Swartz Upper Elementary recently gathered for a short presentation on different aspects of pioneer life such as, trading post practice, clothes, trapping, cooking, and travel. One of the highlights of this presentation was when a parent dressed as a pioneer lit a small fire using flint and steel. This activity was used to build background knowledge before beginning a novel study on the classic, “Sarah, Plain, and Tall” by Patricia MacLachlan.
