A+PEL Accepts Nominations for Volunteer of the Year
Posted on Wednesday, January 23 @ 14:26:58 CST by aline

OPSB News Teachers appreciate the critical role volunteers play in creating effective schools and increasing the quality of children’s education. A+PEL is promoting this idea by honoring outstanding school volunteers involved with volunteer work in Louisiana schools. Nominees should be a person who has shown above average commitment to education. Every school in the parish should have a nominee. If you find it difficult to choose only one, please submit all that you wish to nominate. The Ouachita Chapter of A+PEL will recognize and present a certificate to each school’s nominee. From the nominees within the Ouachita Parish System, one volunteer will be selected by an anonymous committee to represent Ouachita Parish at a statewide reception to be held at the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion in June 2008. There is no statewide competition. All parish winners are honored as equals.

There are three (3) criteria for selection: Time, energy or resources in school service; Services rendered at school, parish and state level; Leadership. Schools wishing to submit nominees should contact Sammie Saulsbury for nomination forms (sammiesaulsbury@msn.com) or call 388-3686. Nomination deadline is February 1, 2008.
