The students at West Ridge Middle School raised over 700 dollars for the Jake Owen Raborn Foundation during the week of November 12th-16th. The Jake Owen Raborn Foundation, founded in 2006 in memory of 4 year-old Jake Raborn who died from a rare form of pediatric lung cancer, is a non-profit organization dedicated to financially supporting families enduring pediatric cancer. The foundation receives monetary support through donations from individuals and businesses that recognize the need for advancing research and treatment of pediatric cancer. It is the goal of the foundation to help others who are facing the same dreadful disease that took the life of young Jake Raborn.
Each student in Coach Underwood's homeroom, the class that collected the largest donation, released a balloon in memory of or in honor of children who have faced pediatric cancer.
Congratulations to the West Ridge student body for remembering that "Giving is the foundation of our world".
