The 6th grade at Good Hope Middle School recently made a trip to south Louisiana. The theme of the trip was “NORTH MEETS SOUTH: HISTORY, MYSTERY, AND COMMOTION. Over 230 students, teachers, and chaperones participated in this trip.
Students traveled to the LSU Campus to participate in OCEAN COMMOTION, a program developed for the LA Sea Grant Program. The event featured hands-on scientific exhibits demonstrating the delicate balance of Louisiana’s wetlands and coastline. Middle school students from throughout the state were able to perform experiments and discover relationships between the environments and their populations.
Upon leaving Ocean Commotion students had the privilege to tour the famed LSU Tiger Stadium. Students were allowed to enter the dressing room, SEC Room, All-American Room, NFL Room, and go through the tunnel and into the stadium itself. Students were met and guided by Mr. Mark Lee, Assistant Manager of Athletic Facilities and Grounds, and received “Tiger Trivia” from Mr. Ronnie Halliburton, former LSU football great and Manager of Athletic Facilities and Grounds.
GHMS students then traveled to St. Francisville, LA for the History & Mystery Tour of the Myrtles Plantation, documented as the most haunted residence in North America. The trip was both educational and fun for all!
