Author Dee Scallan Visits Riverbend

The second grade students at Riverbend are excited about writing. With the help of Dee Scallan, a local children's author, students wrote and illustrated a book using the 4 Square writing method. Ms Dee had students use the 4 Square model to organize and categorize their thoughts. Children were then divided into 4 groups to complete each section of the 4 Square. Students also had to edit their writing, make and color pictures to go on each page of the book. The book, which is titled "Where Do We Find Circles?", is currently being published. A copy of the book will be placed in the school library, and each student will also receive a copy of the book they created. Ms Dee will return to Riverbend later in the year to work with the third and fourth grades in a similar writing project.
