Governors Initiative Classrooms Selected

Governor Blanco's laptop initiative - Turn On To Learning (TOTL) - has named A.L. Smith's sixth grade teachers, Beckie Mayo and Brittany Raffray, to participate in the project. Apple Computers will provide each classroom a mobile lab of 25 wireless laptops, projector, and printer. The two teachers will each receive a "digital backpack" containing a wireless MacBook, iPod and accessories, camera, etc. The district was asked to select two sixth grade teachers that teach the four Core Subjects between them and whose students change from one room to the other. Data will be collected throughout the year to determine how technology affects student achievement. Nancy Parks, Technology Coordinator, completed the submitted proposal and will visit the site often throughout the year. Congratulations to Principal Dena Leggett and her teachers!
