This past summer, Konstance Brown, a senior at West Monroe High School, became the school's first student selected into the Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America Summer program. The LEDA Scholars Program is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the leadership potential of exceptional students of under-represented racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. The program includes a seven-week Aspects of Leadership Summer Institute which was held on the beautiful campus of Princeton University, and is designed to help diversify the pool of American leadership. Some of the Aspects curriculum in which Konstance participated includes daily class participation, weekly essays and writing classes, SAT prep, and college prep. Konstance was also able gain the cultural experience of living in Princeton with those who she now considers her LEDA family, and sightseeing in NYC and DC. Konstance stated "LEDA helped to broaden my perspective of the world, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend." Konstance is the daughter of Bishop Richard Brown, pastor of FreeWill Apostolic Ministry, and First Lady Kathy Brown, a second grade teacher at Woodlawn Elementary. Konstance is looking forward to serving as WMHS and District XI Student Council President, and having a wonderful senior year.
