PINECREST STUDENTS HEAD TO STATE COMPETITION

Pinecrest students Jonathan Sisson, Malynda Tyson, Michael Dent, and Daniel Chambola have all qualified for the Louisiana State Social Studies Fair to be held April 26 on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. Sisson, a 6th grader, won fist place in Economics and the Grand Prize for Division I. That division is made up of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. His project’s title was, “The Rising Price of Gas.” As the Grand Prize winner, he was awarded $100. Malynda Tyson won 1st Place in Division II Economics with her project, “The Price of Impressionism.” She was also awarded $100 for winning the Program Design Contest. She is the first student in the history of the contest to win the award and to have her artwork published twice. She has also been a “runner-up” winner twice in the last four years. Michael Dent and Daniel Chambola won first place with their project, “The Destruction of the Amazon Rainforest” in the Division II Geography Group Project Competition. Also receiving awards were Quannah Clark and Samantha Wood who were runners-up in the Program Design Contest. They were both awarded $50.00.
