OPSB.net - Ouachita Schools Score at Band and Orchestra Festival

The Louisiana Music Educators’ Association District One Large Ensemble Festival was recently held at West Ouachita High School. Bands and orchestras from the surrounding area performed before a panel of judges. The bands were rated based on a concert and sight-reading performance. During the concert part of the festival, bands performed musical selections that they had prepared over the previous weeks. During the sight-reading portion of the festival, bands were presented with a piece of music that they had not seen before, and were given a few minutes to read over the music before they had to perform the piece. A panel of judges rated the bands I, II, III, IV, V, with I being the highest and V being the lowest. Students from Ouachita Parish Schools continued the tradition of excellence with high scores.
