OPSB.net - RISER HOLDS FIRST CAREER FAIR

Riser Elementary School held its First Job Fair in February and the event was described by all as "absolutely wonderful!" Approximately 150 parents, students and community volunteers were in attendance. Our staff worked tirelessly to ensure that everything would be perfect for that night. . . and it was. The freedom our students had to interact with these wonderful mentors was so refreshing to them that they talked about it for days.

First the Junior League awarded a $250.00 grant to our school and we purchased the software “A Dictionary of Careers for Children” for our students. The students then researched their specific careers of interest. Next, the students prepared their First Resume using the Internet web page, www.careerkids.com, and these resumes were posted on the bulletin board for all to view.

We at Riser Elementary School say thank you to all who made the event a huge success!! We especially want to publicly acknowledge the following dedicated people who gave us their time and talents that night. They are:
