News: Outstanding Senior at SHS
Posted on Wednesday, February 11 @ 11:19:50 CST by admin

OPSB News Jesse Mathes, a senior at Sterlington High School, traveled to Washington, D.C. for the National Youth Leadership Forum held February 3-8, 2004. Jesse is the son of Paula and Gary Mathes. Jesse was one of six students from Louisiana who were chosen to participate. While he was there, Jesse toured the Lithuanian Embassy, the International Spy Museum, the National War College, and Arlington Cemetery where he viewed the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and John F. Kennedy's grave. He gained a great deal of knowledge and experience in problem solving when students were assigned roles and given a scenario involving a terrorist situation which they had to resolve. Jesse returned from this trip with newly gained confidence, not to mention many new friends.
