Central Elementary Students Win Purple Pig Contest

Students around the system collected money in purple pigs to benefit programs directed by the Domestic Violence Program and the Family Justice Center of Ouachita Parish. Area students collected $6331.51. Mrs. Adams 5th grade class from Central Elementary won the Purple Pig Contest. Her class collected $243.45. Congratulations!

Highland Honors Veterans

The 4th and 5th grade students at Highland Elementary had the opportunity to sing at the Northeast Louisiana Veteran's Home in Monroe for their special Veteran's Day celebration on November 9. This was the 10th anniversary for the Veteran's Home and took place outside in front of the facility. The students sang five patriotic selections and John Thomas Williams, fourth grade, recited a patriotic essay on Freedom. The students shared special thank you notes that they had prepared for the veterans. At the conclusion of the performance, Honorable Kay Katz, personally invited the Highland students to sing at the World War II Memorial Bridge Dedication service, which took place on the steps of the Ouachita Parish Courthouse on November 14. The Highland students and their teachers (Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Williamson, Miss Pilgreen, Mrs. Moore and music teacher Mrs. Olyce Bennett) are to be commended for their outstanding performances!

Lenwil 4-H Club

The Lenwil 4-H club is sending some Christmas cheer to our troops fighting for our country. Mrs. Carol Little obtained a list of items that can be used by our men and women while they are away from home. Members of the Lenwil 4-H Club brought many items on the list. Hopefully this will put a smile on the faces of some of our soldiers. Sending items that are needed is a way that we can give back to those men and women that are keeping our country free and safe. Happy Holidays!
