ACDA National Honor Choir
Good Hope Middle School Colonel Choir members Katie Counts and Nikki Daviswere selected for the ACDA National Treble Honor Choir which will be held in Miami, Florida in March 2007. These girls will perform with about 200 of the finest young singers from across the entire nation. Congratulations to these awesome singers! GHMS Choir is under the direction of Denise Green.
RJHS wins a QSM Grant
Congratulations to Richwood Junior High School Science Teacher, Melanie Fontenot for winning a QSM grant for her classroom. The grant will help supply her students with hands-on activities dealing with the solar system and beyond. Her students are eagerly awaiting the new lab equipment and activity kits that will be purchased with the award money.
RMS Christmas Poems Selected
Ms. Melanie Dowdy’s 8th grade English language arts classes at Riser Middle School submitted Christmas memory poems to Sunny 98.3. The radio station recorded two students’ poems – Danielle Styron and Quaneshia Jackson – to place on the Sunny Brings Christmas Home CD. These CDs are being sold for $5.00 at area business to benefit the Monroe Jaycees area projects for kids. Congratulations students!
