Ouachita Parish Teachers of the Year Recognized by BESE

The Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education recognized twenty-four teachers from around the state who were named Teachers of the Year in their regions. Two teachers represented Ouachita Parish in state competition, Region II Elementary Teacher of the Year Michelle Thrower of Central Elementary and Region II High School Teacher of the Year Shea Crew of West Monroe High School. Both traveled to Baton Rouge for interviews this week.
In announcements made during the October 19 BESE meeting, Michelle Thrower was named 2007 Louisiana Elementary Teacher of the Year!
Serving in this prestigious capacity, Michelle may be called upon on various occasions during her year of recognition. Some activities and tasks in which she will be involved include: Special adviser to the State Superintendent regarding classroom teaching; Appointment to Louisiana Department of Education committees concerning curricular development, teacher education, and student involvement; and, Appearances before the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Legislature, State conventions, and/or other groups.
