The West Monroe High School Theatre Department celebrates this school year the founding and formal chartering in 1976-77 of the Theatre Forensic Squad. New officers and prospective members attended an all-day theatre workshop October 7 taught by the officers and mentored by Shirley Fields, director. Students participated in dance, stage combat, stage makeup, acting, improvisation, vocal music and technical theatre classes with emphasis on rehearsal for the Homecoming Program. On October 8 over forty new members were inducted in a formal candlelight ceremony and the 2006-07 officers were installed.
The tentative season includes a Talent Search: Rebel Idol, The Worlds of William Shakespeare, The Fabulous Fable Factory (an interesting portrayal of Aesops fables with music), Broadway, and The Three Musketeers. A Black Box Theatre concept will be mounted by the troupe to include scenes from classic plays followed by literary discussions. English and Language Arts classes will receive invitations when the project is to begin.
