OPSB.net - Pricilla Presley Congratulates West Ridge Middle School Band and Orchestra

Pricilla Presley surprised the West Ridge Band by coming by and talking to the group at a concert done at Graceland in Memphis. Pricilla Presley was at Graceland for the American Idol finals and was giving an interview when the West Ridge Band started to perform. Instead of leaving out the back, as she had planned to do, she surprised the band by coming by and telling them what a great job they were doing and how much she had enjoyed listening to them while she was doing her interview. Pricilla wanted to know where the group was from and was very impressed that they were only a middle school band. Of course, all of our parents caught this on tape and we found out later that the famous American Idol judge, Simon, was also in the audience and talked to one of our parents about the group. This was the highlight of a great first band trip for West Ridge! The band and orchestra was in Memphis because of an invitation to perform at Graceland. The students enjoyed three days of touring Memphis, including all of the historical music places and events that have occurred in Memphis, Tennessee.
