OPSB.net - West RIdge Middle School Choir Wins BIG D FESTIVAL!

The West Ridge Middle School Select Boys’ and Girls' choirs recently competed in the Big D American Classic Choral Festival at the Majestic Theater in Dallas. The groups received the BEST IN FESTIVAL AWARD for the highest scores in the Middle School/ Junior High School choral area. Three performing ensembles represented the school's choral department. The Mixed Chorus received a Superior Rating and the BEST IN CLASS AWARD for having the highest rating in the mixed choir category. The Boy's Chorus received a Superior rating and an outstanding musicianship award, and the Girl’s Select Choir also received a Superior rating and the BEST IN CLASS AWARD. Middle school and high school choral groups from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas competed in the festival. The choral groups returned home with a total of SEVEN winning trophies! Special thanks to our chaperones: Mr. and Mrs. Underwood, Mrs. Taylor, Mr. Williams, Mrs. Lavender, Mrs. Shepherd, Mrs. Von Diezelski, and Mrs. Hampton for your help with this SUCCESSFUL CHOIR TRIP! The choirs were under the direction of Mrs. Pam Givens and were assisted by Robin Thomas, festival accompanist.
