Ouachita Parish Schools reigned supreme in the recent Regional Social Studies Fair held at ULM. Several schools reported students earning top spots.

HIGHLAND ELEMENTARY
Economics Division:
1st Place: Hannah Ware
2nd Place: Kaitlynn Holland
Geography Division:
3rd Place: Jordan Chriceol
Overall winner in Division I: Hannah Ware (received a cash prize)
Director Patricia Moore received $50.00 for having Grand Prize winner, Division I

OUACHITA PARISH HIGH SCHOOL
The winners from OPHS are:
Steven Burney and J.J. Oglesby placed 1st in History Group-Division III
Robert Rieger and Ashley Hart placed 1st in Sociology and were Runner-up to Grand Prize in Division III
Nick McDonald and Daniel Wright placed 2nd in Economics Group-Div. III
Ebony Broadway placed 3rd in History Individual - Div. III
Kandice Perry placed 1st in Political Science and was also the runner-up to Grand Prize in Div. III Individual
Amanda Duckworth placed 2nd in History Individual - Div. III

SWARTZ UPPER ELEMENTARY
Swartz Upper had 10 projects place at the Regional Social Studies Fair. Congratulations to the following winners:

CALHOUN MIDDLE SCHOOL
Calhoun Middle School was well represented at the Regional Social Studies Fair. Those students placing at the fair include:

Jason Purvis, Jake Hendrix, & Mitch Tatum, 2nd Place / History
The group of Jason Purvis, Jake Hendrix, & Mitch Tatum also qualified for state competition to be held in Baton Rouge on May 1, 2006.

WOODLAWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Woodlawn Elementary had 2 groups to win Regional Social Studies Fair... they are as follows:
Spencer Hemphill and Ryan Dykes, 1st place in Group Economics
Justin Frasier and Ian Eisler, 1st place in Group History

LAKESHORE ELEMENTARY
Lakeshore Elementary had about ten to twelve students representing our school. We had two groups place.
In Geography, Kinsey Kerrigan and Katie Adams, 5th grade, took fourth in their division.
In History, Lane Pietro and Nicholas Knight, 5th grade, placed third.
Congratulations, you guys!

OUACHITA JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
CONGRATULATIONS to those Ouachita Junior High School students who participated in the Regional Social Studies Fair. Of the 18 students who participated, 14 will proceed to state!! Also, in Division II (Jr. High), OJHS students received 3 of the 4 OVERALL GRAND PRIZES! WAY TO GO SCHOLARS!
INDIVIDUAL:

Geography - Mason Richard - 4th place
Sociology - Megan Malta - 1st place, Morgan Tanner - 2nd place;
