The National 4-H Congress is the flagship event of the 4-H program. For eighty years, youth from the United States and its territories have participated in this youth leadership development conference.
Lauren was also selected as the delegate from Louisiana to bring in the state flag during one of the opening ceremonies. While there, she met Miss America and Lieutenant General Russel L. Honore who assisted with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in New Orleans.
The Louisiana delegation met other 4-H participants from around the United States and attended various workshops on leadership skills, project work, and citizenship. Lauren also participated in a community service project in which she tutored young children in reading at one of Atlanta’s inner city schools.
Lauren is currently the president of the Ouachita Parish 4-H Junior Leader Club, a member of the Ouachita Parish 4-H Advisory Committee, Northeast Regional Representative for the 4-H State Executive Board, and an at-large member for the 4-H State Foundation. She is the daughter of Tammy Rodgers Kennedy of West Monroe and Randy Ogles of Monroe.
