Our twin Vision Vans, Seemore and Iris, have been serving victims of Katrina since early-September in Houston and San Antonio,Texas. Thanks to the enthusiastic outpouring of Gift of Sight volunteers, we have delivered thousands of glasses to people in need. We’ve helped people rescued from rooftops whose glasses were left behind and others who had worn the same pair of daily wear contacts for more than 10 days.

Luxottica Retail associates have reached out to evacuees in their communities delivering 3,722 pairs of free glasses in the last few weeks. Our San Antonio relief operation lasted two weeks and the Houston clinic for one week. A Vision Van has relocated to Louisiana where we have been invited by Red Cross Disaster Relief Services. To help with Katrina and other Gift of Sight efforts, Luxottica Group and additional suppliers have generously donated frames and lenses to keep our efforts going. Give the Gift of Sight is a family of charitable vision care programs directly delivered by Luxottica Retail associates and affiliated doctors in conjunction with Lions Clubs International and thousands of local charities and volunteers.
