CLICK READ MORE BELOW....
The Louisiana School Employees' Retirement System (LSERS) announces their emergency payment procedures for retirees who are impacted
by Hurricane Katrina. Retirees who receive their monthly income by paper checks and live in this area will need to make an alternate avenue for
receiving these checks, since the mail is not being delivered in these areas. Also, they have been evacuated from these areas and will need to
obtain their monthly check as soon as possible.
LSERS is holding paper retiree checks for those whose zip codes have the following first three digits: 700, 701, 704, and Montegut and Grand Isle in 703. These area codes include the following parishes: Orleans, St. Bernard, Jefferson, St. Tammany, Plaquemines, Tangipahoa, St. John the
Baptist, St. Charles, St. Helena, Washington, Montegut in Terrebonne, and Grand Isle in LaFourche.
If LSERS' retirees live in one of these areas, they will need to contact LSERS at 1-800-256-3718, or at (225) 925-6484 to make arrangements for obtaining your retirement check. We will be answering our phones Saturday, September 3 and Monday (Labor Day), September 5 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. During regular working weekdays our hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Or if you wish to have your check mailed to a temporary address, please fax to us at (225) 922-1001 or (225) 922-0350 the following:
your name, Social Security number, home address, the temporary address you
would like to have your check mailed, a telephone number where you may be reached, and your signature.
