For December, Character Counts is helping the Salvation Army by “stocking stuffing” this Christmas. This group has ordered 200 stockings to be delivered and then filled for needy children of varying ages. Many of the teachers, students, and members of other clubs and athletic teams are helping by volunteering to stuff some of the stockings. This project is an excellent opportunity for Sterlington High students to get in the Christmas spirit and give to others.
Also this month, Student Council is sponsoring the annual Senior Citizen Christmas Dinner. Invitations have been sent to local area churches and other honored guests to come to the SHS cafeteria for a delicious Christmas meal Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at noon. There will be Christmas carols and entertainment provided by some of the many talented students at Sterlington High, and the oldest man and woman in attendance will be presented with a fruit basket. Each year, student council members look forward to this event more than any other. It is their way of thanking the senior members of the area for all their contributions to our school and community.
