OPHS Student Wins United Way Award

OPSB News Trey Maxwell, a sophomore at Ouachita Parish High School, was nominated for the Community Spirit Leadership Award given by the United Way. Trey won this award for his outstanding community service in leading approximately 40 people in building 4 concrete slabs with picnic tables at the Swartz Upper Elementary School. He also erected 4 tetherball poles and 1 basketball pole. In addition, 3 pieces of playground equipment were repainted. Trey raised nearly $1,300 through community donations and fundraisers. The award, given to one youth in our community, was presented at the United Way Awards Banquet on February 9th.
