To celebrate School Bus Drivers Week (October 18-22) the Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders were treated to a program on Bus Safety by bus driver Bobbie Lane. The students viewed a safety video to learn proper behavior when riding the bus. The Bus Drivers were honored at an assembly where students read poems and sang songs expressing their appreciation for their bus drivers. Each driver was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the principal and faculty.
During the week of October 25-29, Swayze students will celebrate Red Ribbon Week. Mrs. Brittany Raffray, Safe and Drug Free Intervention Strategist, has planned many activities for the week. On Monday, everyone will wear red shirts and sunglasses to fit the theme of “Our School is Too Cool to do Drugs.” Later that day students will be motivated by Miss Louisiana who will encourage them to stay Drug Free. Afterward there will be a balloon launch to highlight the beginning of a week of activities and contests all designed to inspire students to live a life free from drugs. All parents who would like to attend the programs are welcome.
