WMHS Freshman to Appear on Emeril Live

Lauren Ogles, freshman at West Monroe High School, will cook with chef Emeril Lagasse on his Food Network program, Emeril Live, during Cook with Your Kids Week. She is one of four winners in a national contest with over 1,500 entries of a recipe and essay. Her Tex Mex Chicken Taco Soup recipe that was submitted was already an award winner through her 1st place win in 4-H Commodity Cookery last spring.
The show's producer came to her home to film an opening segment of Lauren preparing the dish. She later went to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, to film the show and cook with Emeril.
Lauren is a veteran of 4-H cookery contests winning at the both parish and district levels. She placed 4th in state this summer in cooking demonstration at 4-H University (formerly known as Short Course), and placed in the Blue Ribbon category for both Food and Fitness Records and Leadership Records. She is a member of the 4-H State Food and Fitness Board where she holds the office of secretary and is also a member and president of the Ouachita Parish 4-H Junior Leader Club. Lauren is also a certified presenter for the Health Rocks program sponsored by the Philip Morris Companies by her participation in the Tri-State Work Force Initiative Workshop this summer held in Little Rock, Arkansas.
