OPHS Social Studies Dept. Speaking Series

The Ouachita Parish High School Social Studies Dept. began it's 2004-2005 speaking series with a very special guest speaker, Dr. H.P. Jones. A history Professor from ULM, Dr. Jones spoke to students about his trip around the world. He began his journey when he was a young man fresh out of college. He worked for a year and a half in England and saved $900.00 for his expediton. His trip around the world extended for 2 years. Dr. Jones has a most colorful and delightful way of presenting the experiences he encountered during his journey. The students really enjoyed him as did our guest, Dr. Webber. The next guest speaker will come some time during the 2nd six weeks. During this year's series, we hope to expose our students to things not covered in our textbook and teach them to "think outside the box".
