The 2004 Arts In The Park Festival sponsored by the Ouachita Parish School Board will be held April 30-May 1 at Kiroli Park in West Monroe. Music performances by parish bands, string orchestras, choirs, and theatre groups will be scheduled throughout the two-day festival. A student art exhibit will be on display in the park lodge. This year's festival will include guest performances by Dr. Guy Gauthreaux, principal timpanist of the Navy Band, and Bill Watrous, Grammy nominee and internationally recognized jazz trombonist. Dr. Gauthreaux will be the featured soloist with the University of Louisiana at Monroe Wind Ensemble, directed by Derle Long, at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 30. Mr. Watrous will be the featured soloist with the ULM Jazz band, directed by Larry Anderson, at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 1. Both performances will be at the park bandstand and are free to the public.
